How would that be said in Russian? (or something else similar that basically means "pays very close attention to details")
"He is a very meticulous person"
and of course, is there a word that would be similar to "anal"?
Thanks!

"мелочный; дотошный;..." ©Lingvo
Is it what you need? Both these words have a negative meaning
Meticilous: тщательный, and Rostova the english word doesn't have a negative connotation.
"Дотошный" doesn't have a negative connotation in Russian either. One more synonym: "скрупулезный".

занудный
занудный translates as draggy into English, so, imho, that's not the right word for meticulous.

Anal is meticulous with a negative connotation.
Noooo... is it?? Anal is being... anal! Nothing to do with meticulousness!
It was real fun..thank you everybody :D :D :D :D
Look at what I have found in the English dictionary.
anal or anal-retentive - giving too much attention to details in a way that annoys people

kalinka_vinnie you've never heard this before?
Argh! Apparently, not me alone. :lol:Quote:

But the dictionary is certainly on the money with the "Anal" meaning, as I've pointed out in my previous post.Quote:

:oQuote:
A person characterized as anal retentive is perceived as worrying excessively about "passing feces": little details of fecal consistancy, color and aroma; or as otherwise being overly uptight or distressed over ordinarily normal evacuation.
Quote:
Today, however, the term is often used of anybody seen as overly worried about small details and unable to adopt a philosophical attitude toward mistakes. This metaphorical usage has become so commonplace that the somewhat graphic literal meaning of the phrase is often overlooked by those using it.
If someone gets their work done perfect to the last detail, they are very meticulous. If they go out of their way to find fault in others, they are being anal.
