Thread: Learning Verbs

When you were learning Russian, did you learn aspect pairs sepperately, or did you group words together and learn читать/прочитать together as one word?

nooooooooo. Dont do it seperate.

Always learn both aspects at the same time, and get yourself into a pattern.

Like me, i always learn the imperfective first, then perfective. So if im ever talking or writing or whatever and im like Crap, which one is the imperfective? ill just be like Стрелять\выстрелять, ah ok стрелять must be the imperfective because that is the one i learned first.

Up until now, I've been memorizing them like that, so its good to know I've been doing it "correct".

I do it both ways. If I don't, sometimes I won't recognize the perfective when I see it in a text.
