    Imperative: Quick Question

What is the imperative form of отдыхать. I am currently trying to learn how to form imperatives and this is something I got stuck on. Can you guys explain how to form imperatives as well for the singular case? I am currently looking at забыть, потанцевать, изучать, встать, etc.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Quick question

Any very that where the first person singular ends in -аю/-яю or -eю or -ую/-юю or -oю:
    replace the ю with й.
    Examples:
    znat', zhalet', sovat', pet'/myt':
    znaj! zhalej! suj! poj!/moj!

These imperatives are the "bare stem", expressed as the underlying
    otdyxaj-#
    conjugation goes otdyxaj-u, otdyxaj-esh, otdyxaj-et, etc. (technically: ot-dyx-aj- etc.).

Take a look at the chapter on imperatives in your textbook. What I wrote applies only to this verb type -- there are other ways to form imperatives for other types.

Of the verbs you cite, забыть, потанцевать, изучать, встать, only the two middle ones are of the type that works as I described. The first and last ones have stems zabud- and vstan-, so right away you see that they are not the same. Accordingly, their imperatives are different too.

Sorry for the translit, I seem to have lost my Cyrillic abilities tonight.

    Re: Imperative: Quick Question

    отдыхать - отдыхай(те)
    забыть - забудь(те)
    потанцевать - потанцуй(те)
    изучать - изучай(те)
    встать - встань(те)
"Россия для русских" - это неправильно. Остальные-то чем лучше?
