    a few quick words and phrases

    How do you say the following in Russian?

    "platic bag" - the kind they use in grocery stores.

    "I am on a diet"

    "I ran out of food"

    "to place an ad in the paper"

    In Russian, all nationalities and their corresponding languages start with a lower-case letter.

    Да, всё правильно, в газете.
    paper неисчисляемое - бумага
    paper исчисляемое - газета
    Есть, конечно, у paper и другие значения.

    Ещё есть "дать объявление".
