expressions to describe people/characters
Can a Russian speaker read my phrases and correct them or suggest better ways of describing details about people.

- Hard to pick up a meaning but maybe "перемены" must be here.

как валун семья надёжна(?). -
когда дети больны - она заботлива_(When no, she's not? :P)
когда они плачут - она хочет узнать причину

Better-
Семья прочна их как кремень,
Она заботится о детях, особенно когда больны они...
Когда же маленькие плачут, причину слёз узнать она стремится...
Who is "she"?

Thank you Scrabus for such exellent corrections!
I do not know this person very well but these are things I noticed about her. She is a migrant from the Baltics.
The meaning here I meant was "uncertainty"....not knowing what is going to happen next. She doesn't like uncertainty.
Семья прочна их как кремень, The other expression I was trying to say is that she "is like a rock" .... when everyone is running around making problems for themselves, she is busy supporting her family and trying to solve their problems and often she has to put up with a lot of inconvenience. She is very reliable.

Yes it is exactly the same meaning in Russian :) . So I got it right. But we don't say "Валун"(boulder) but we can say "Скала"(rock) or "Кремень"(flint).
We don't say usually "семья надёжна"(family is reliable) but we can say - "семья прочна"(family is solid) or "семья благополучна"(family is safe). It just a common way to say the first meaning in russian.
You can say "надёжно"(reliable) about the person but not about family in a whole.

Ok, here is a correct meaning then -
Она не любит неопределённость.

В данном случае, кстати, ударение ставится на вторую "е" - "кремЕнь".
