Every month I sit here in my domicile looking out at the moss reflecting under the yellow lunar light and think it's almost as if the two tongues were related. Hmmm, you think?
(месяц дом мох желтый луна луч два язык) !
=:^0
And not only russian an english, but also latin, from where came words edacious, domicile, lunar
Семь бед, один Reset
thus Russian and English have much older similarities - from Latin,Greek also from Celtic and even from earlier language - words like Sun солнце, nose нос, plough плуг(perhaps) and many other came from one root.
Я так думаю.
I wouldn't be so sure of that as an etymologist. But I'm not one.Originally Posted by Leof

comeon Rtyom, you can't denay that Russian and English have a great many of words of the same root! Both have lots of words from one Latin or Greek origin.
Sun and nose take their origin in the Sanscrit language - undesputedly the elder one of existing now.
The Slavic word кремль has the same meaning with Celtic word cromleh - both mean (stone) circle.
One of the most famous celtologists Francoise Le Roux evolves the theory that the words Wales and wall have one root. After I encounter it I thought that Slavic root вал ((earthen) mound or wall) is too similar with the first two.
Я так думаю.
wealcan is the Old English word for the verb "roll". It's akin to one Indo-Erupean root with the meaning of curving and rolling and alike. The word "wall" in Old English was weall, going back to the Latin "vallum" meaning "rampart".
So maybe there is sense.
«И всё, что сейчас происходит внутре — тоже является частью вселенной».
it's мукн interesting what you said about wall weall and vallum!
So curious was to know that Latin word classus (fleet>флот) gave the birth to such words as classical and classics (same for Russian respectevelly).
In the Roman Empire everything naval was characterized as something brought to the ideal order (one more word!). Hense everything classical is something subjected by the order.
Я так думаю.
Proto indo-European is where a lot of these words all share there roots.
молоко
milk
Then there are ones like
Domestic
Дом
English - Swine
German - Schwein (sp?)
Russian - Швин
Although I think that may have been taken direct from German.

yes - the one mother language.
I am curious though, if the first humans were from Africa, why all links lead to India? Should be evident similarities with some African languages - dead or with used ones.
yes you are right - Latin word is domus
cat - кот
beat - бить
Я так думаю.
The first humans were Adam and Eve and were white with fair hair and blue eyes, and they spoke Hebrew or something to God. :POriginally Posted by Leof

Of course they were!!
And did you ever know why dogs have wett noses?
Huh - did you?
NO! you did not thus I shall tell you!
When dogs were in the Noah's Ark - they stoped up the leaks between the thimbers by their noses!
There was a time, when survived not more than one thousand of humans on the Globe - it explains the similarities of languages, traditions, cosmology and paggan beliefs. Eventualy we all were born from one mother and have the same DNA of one father.
Я так думаю.

Should be свин after all.

Isn't it strange we never use "свин"?Maybe Russia is a too much chauvinistic country!Originally Posted by Rtyom
