It seems odd to me, that if you see something amazing, you'd say "Ничего себе"... Is that really supposed to be an exclamation of wonder?

Yes. Also "Ого!"
Thanks, guess I better get used to it!
Dont you ever use something like the english "wow"? I mean, most of the countries have adopted that word from english and just say "wow" even if it doesnt belong to the native language.
And by the way, how would you pronounce those expressions, Wich words do you put the power/stress into?
Just stress it as it is written, I believe:
Вот это да, ничего себе.
In "Вот это да" the word "да" is stressed. In "ничего себе" the word "ничего" is stressed.
Russian analog of "wow!" is "ого!"

"Вот это да!":

А ещё "Ух ты!":

"Ух ты!" also fits, I guess.
And yes, we started to say "Вау!" too often, but I hope it will not entrench forever.
Quote:
Yes. "Ух ты", but it only indicates positive emotion. "Ого" and "Вот это да" may be used in negative sense.
There is also "вот так ТАК".
