    директор

Я заметил что когда склоняется это слово на множественное число оформляется на именительным с окончанием: а и ударение перемещается на конце: директора.
    Слово профессор тоже.

Are there any other words that follow the same rules?
Чем больше слов, тем меньше они стоят.

I think there are many of such words in Russian. Just off the top of my head:

    мастер - мастера
    кучер - кучера

It might be due to the nature of the words as they were absorbed from other languages, but I'm not sure on that.

I do not claim that my opinion is absolutely true.
If you've spotted any mistake in my English, please, correct it. I want to be aware of any mistakes to efficiently eliminate them before they become a habit.

Be careful, many words are pronounced in 2 ways (прожекторы-прожектора), but only one of them could be "approved". In normal speech (even if you speak in parliament) any way is acceptable. In documents, one could be called illiterate.
