Second "я" is redundant there. Also "мыло" is quite "slangish" and very informal.

"Перед тем как" is ok, but "прежде чем" sounds a little bit more stylistically correct here. "До того как" sounds odd in this sentence, can't say why.
May be it has something to do with direct connection of two actions in past.
