Thread: Abt Vasmer's Etymological Dictionary

Recently I have read a short article with famous phrases where is one that says, more or less, "If you don't read you are a "дикир"" or something like this. My dictionary translate it as "a savage"; remembering a book read some years ago I thought if it refers really to "dikaries" (tocarios in Spanish) a people in the Route of Silk perhaps contemporary to Gengis Khan and his friends. To confirm my opinion I go to Vasmer's Dictionary but I have got a warning as a site with serious potential risk and to go on only at my risk. Really (my) Windows 7 is very strict with the warnings and risks but I would hear other opinion abt this site that never has given to me any problem. Thanks.

Это слово - "дикарь", которое образовано от прилагательного "дикий" с помощью церковнославянского суффикса "арь".
