Thread: 1) "будто" 2) "лишь только"?

Please, can anyone help me to write some simple sentences that contain 1) "будто" and 2) "лишь только"?

These are just proving hard to remember without some context.. I think it is because they have no obvious direct translation. I checked in a search engine, but all I got back was long complicated sentences which had other new words in addition to these.

A couple of sentences that came to mind:

Он говорит так, (как) будто он слышит это в первый раз. = He says it as if he heard it for the first time. (he pretends)

- Ты говоришь по-английски? = Do you speak English?
- Будто ты не знаешь! = literally As though you don't know. (Don't you really know that I speak it? Of course you do!)

Лишь только солнце взошло, я начал работать. = As soon as the Sun rose I started working.

Actually; the translation I had for "лишь только" was "no sooner ... than" which is a bit weird really. "As soon as" is much easier and makes more sense, and now I see that that translation is also right.

This examples are really very good. This really helps to understand the meaning of this two things. Now we can also move towards that some hard and lengthy to translate that in the same way.
