Thread: Это работа брак !?!

Привет.
Я не уверен однако думаю что сегодня я слышал эту фразу: "Это работа брак".
Знаю что "брак" значит "wedding (not the ceremony)".
Это разумно? Я не слышал правильно?

These two homonyms have different origin:

брак (marriage) is an old derivation from Russian verb "брать" (to take). Literally, "брак" = "takage" when a man "takes" his fiancee to become his wife.
брак (production defect) is a loan word from German "Brack".

The problem Bob is that you didn't provide me with any examples using brak as defect. I can use it any sentence instead of defect.

(Note that "производственный брак" is a common set expression).
The adjective is "бракованный":
бракованные часы, бракованная машина, бракованная мебель... anything which was produced with defects.

BTW, the original sentence does not look right. Это работа брак is badly worded. Should be: Эта работа - брак.
