Thread: л и р

Recently I have posted a confusion between лусский (heard by me) and русский (written). Later I have heard an other word with the same ambiguity. Since in my mother tongue such a phonetical confusion is completely imposible ("cara" and "cala", for example) I went to a specialized text to see if I need more Phonetics or more Otorhynolaringologics. In "Фонетика и Интонация" by Дина Никитична Антонова I see (разделы IV и VIII) that both are "перезязычнын и какуминальные". Being the difference between them that in "л" the apex of tongue touches superior teeth (p. 67), whereas in "p", apart from being дрожащиы " кончик языка немного загнутый кверху" p. 115).
"Наблюдаемые отклонения: ... 4) смешение л и р ..."
So, being дрожащиы reduced, as many times is, whichever position of the apex of tongue between verticality and touching superior teeth will give a sound between л и р. So I let the Doctor for an other ocassion and write in my list of difficulties: "Posible ambiguity between л и р. See Антонова p. 68 y 115".

Perhaps somebody has had the same doubt and can like to know why things are like this.

They're different no doubt!!!
Do they sound the same to you? (I mean, the following record)

In the file attached by Vincent the difference is obvious, but in the files object of my doubts the sounds were so near that obliged me to lost some time in this "deep research" . Happily there are here people not having the same doubts and ready to answer; if this were not the case one should ask in other place.
