Thread: Вас vs вы vs Ваш/Ваша

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could explain to me the difference between these three - they seem to both mean 'you' however they are used in different contexts and I was wondering what the rule is? Sorry if this is basic but I've searched the net and found nothing.

Вопрос в падежах. A question is in cases.
Кого? - Вас (you)
Кто? Who? - Вы (you)
Чья? Чей? Чьё? - Ваша, Ваш, Ваше (yours)


For example:
Who do you see? - Кого Вы видите? - Вас!
Whose this jacket? - Yours! Чья эта куртка? - Ваша!

One last question - so what is the difference between Вас and вы? Are they interchangeable? Can you just use either....

It's the case again. Вы - the nominative case, вас - genitive, accusative, вам - dative, вами - instrumental, о вас - prepositional.

It's like "I" and "me" in English.
