Следовательно предложние перевести как "He like agreed to give me the green card first". Но это не имеет смысл.

"It looks like he agrees to give me the first green card."
Без "вроде":
"He agrees to give me the first green card."

"Strange. That's what I thought but it wasn't at all what I meant it to be taken. I don't even understand how you would see any sort of threat in that comment. They must think that I'm this secret service agent trying to find out private things about them or something.
The comment was in response to "spying" which I thought was odd so I took it as a joke and said what I said. Which was to mean that from where I'm at to Oregon it would be like Moscow to Vladivostok and that if I was going to do any spying that it would be easier to do it to someone living in Chicago. But even then that would be a distance and it was still meant to be taken as a joke. You don't mean to tell me that Russians are that insecure. None the less, I will prepare a comment to explain that comment and what it meant. I don't want them to go thinking that I'm searching for information or something. The environment here, as I took it to be, is a friendly environment so I thought I'd get to know them a little more and not just post "How do you translate this?" and that's it. It just seem so impersonal. But maybe that's how those people are. Thank you for letting me know."
Chill out. That was a joke, no doubt:-)
