In the examples I find in the Internet it seems that it means: steal (красть / украсть , воровать / своровать).
For example:

Thank you I aready knew the word "Хищник" from the film "Чужой против Хищника" (... when I was browsing American Films with Russian subtitles).

In fact, "похищать/похитить" is a general term for "to steal" (= красть/украсть). "Похищать/похитить" sounds more greatly, whereas "красть/украсть" are common and colloquial. You can hear "похищать/похитить" in the news often.
