Thread: перила, kissing (for forgiveness)

When I see this pictures what do I say:
очень красивая перила или очень красивые перилы

Do I use the word kiss целовать for this

("перила" are plural and they don't have singular form)

In Greek we have the word προσκυνώ that Wikipedia translates as Стояние на коленях (коленопреклонение).
But in Greek it does not have just this meaning.
The Greek-Russian dictionary says:
поклоняться, преклоняться
But for me it doesn't make sense for the context exhibited in the pictures.
For example: Christians kiss the icons when they enter the church
For Example / Magdalena and Jesus: "As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them".

Ok. In russian "целовать" is not "mainly erotic term". Erotic too, but not mainly. Mother "целует" child. About 50 years ago it was ok for men to kiss in cheek to express great respect. Usually triple times as ritual. As far as I know there is term "triple Brezhnev" because of it:

We used to have the special word for such nonamorous kissing. I mean (об)лобызать. These days, it is considered somewhat obsolete and is used mostly humorously. Although, since Putin to some extent rebaptized Russia, the word may enjoy a kind of resurrection in a future time.
