Thread: Ощущенья

I'm doing this at risk of sounding like a casual passerby of the forum who knows nothing about Russian, but I really would like a little help understanding this song by Zemfira called "ощущенья." I'll post up what I was able to get myself. I speak only beginner's Russian, but I particularly like the music for this song, and wanted to understand more.

Гладя взглядом из-под кафель
Пять капель (Five drops?)
За календарным листом (Behind a calendar leaf?)
Затаилась моя смелость (My courage hid)
А как пелось (And as it's sung)

Припев:

Лететь дальше всех (To fly further than everyone)
Даже во сне (Even in dreams)
Верить в параллели откровенья
Лететь (Fly)
Лететь выше всех (To fly higher than everything)
Падать больнее (To fall more painfully)
Но зато какие ощущенья (But on the other hand, ??)

Дыр пленки стёрты до дыр
И не спасают своих даже
Лажа
Дым монитор снова дым (Smoke - the monitor is smokey again? )

Zemfira's song texts are known to be usually a stream of consciousness or mindflow (not sure what is it in English) - a series of free associations. They often miss syntax and sometimes looks senseless. Sometimes she randomly changes grammar to get a better rythm or for some unknown reason. Etc. So, Zemfira's text is not a good excersize to learn a language.

But I'll try to translate word-by word: it's a challenge.

Я обещала себе (I promised to myself)
Гладя взглядом из-под кафель (when caressing by the glance from under the tile)
Пять капель (Five drops)
За календарным листом (Behind a calendar sheet)
Затаилась моя смелость (My bravery hid)
А как пелось (... but singing was so great)

Припев:
Мне же лететь (I should fly)
Лететь дальше всех (To fly further than everyone)
Даже во сне (Even in dreams)
Верить в параллели откровенья (to believe in parallels of revelation)
Лететь (To Fly)
Лететь выше всех (To fly higher than everyone)
Падать больнее (falling down is more painful)
Но зато какие ощущенья (But sensations are great!)

Дыр пленки стёрты до дыр (holes tapes are overused into holes)
И не спасают своих даже (and can not save even theirs)

Дым монитор снова дым (smoke monitor again smoke) (did I say the syntax sometimes missed completely? )
И мне в затылок рассвет дышит (and the dawn breathes to my nape (an idiom means "follows me closely"))

...Still she was able to catch something in her songs: the feeling of time or whatever. She was insanely popular in xUSSR around 2000 AD. Everybody was struck independently on the age, class, gender and preferences. And her crazy texts did a job.
