    I'm translating one text and I'm having dificult in this particular sentence.

    Can someone help me with this "обкома ВКП(б)" ?

    обком = областной комитет - regional committee
    ВКП(б) = Всесоюзная Коммунистическая Партия (большевиков) - Communist Party of the Soviet Union (Bolsheviks)

    It should be remembered, by the way, that it was ВКП(б) from 1925 up to 1952. After this it was КПСС (CPSU — Communist Party of the Soviet Union).
