Can anyone help me out on this one?
This is from the all chick group VIA-GRA.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All the World.

    Something like:
Even if you're a bit over thirty
There's still hope to marry a prince
The sun shines the same to everyone on the planet
Only it's cloudy over our capital

    He'd approach - I'd turn away
    He'd approach me - I'd leave
    He'd approach - I'd smile
    Such are things

    Bleh.

    First verse

I've translated the first verse, but I had trouble with the first line...

Even if you are (nemnogo) thirty
There's a hope to get married to a prince
On the planet the Sun shines the same to everyone
It's only overcast above our capital city

I wasn't that sure about the first line either, but it's my best guess.

Pravit you are exactly right about the first line.

What puzzles me here is that this was not sung by VIAGRA originally but by Serduchka, that kind of drag-queen person
It was a very big hit last year. I believe it's called я не поняла. It was quite funny because I remember the first time I heard it I thought, hmm, that sounds like he's singing "я не поняла", but I must be hearing it wrong, because he's a man

It would be a bit weird if VIAGRA did a cover version of that ... ?
By the way I keep seeing this ultra-sexy video here in China with three buxom gals and they're singing in English, but I'm nearly sure it's that VIAGRA group ... they sing 'stop, stop, stop' or something and in the video they've got this kind of Sigmund Freud character. Is it them?

Dunno, I don't listen to Russian pop music. These lyrics are a bit of lame.

The song is definitely sung by VIA-GRA. I bought the CD while I was in Odessa.

Three tall, thin, gorgeous, buxom girls: one blonde, one red-head, and one brunette.

They also do sing a song called "Стоп! Стоп! Стоп!" but on my CD, the song is in Russian.

    Ya ne ponyala!

lollool i just had to luagh when i read that. I have that cd too, and as much as id like to make fun of you for listening to such crap, well i must admit that i do it too.

Actually Krasnaya plesen' does a funny cover of that song too. But they are cool for makin fun of crappy pop music so its nothing new.

waxwing, you're right. It's a song of Верка Сердючка, but there's a version of it where she and ВИАГРА sing it together.

kwatts59, as far as I know, the right refrain is:

Он бы подошел, я бы отвернулась
Он бы приставал ко мне, я б ушла
Он бы зарыдал, я бы улыбнулась
    Вот таки дела

Pravit, I think you'll manage to translate it as well ;)

    Yeah, that's the correct refrain.

It's "таки дела", not "такие дела" because Сердючка mixes Ukrainian words and grammar into her (his) songs and stage speech for the flavor. (In proper Urkainian it would be spelled as "такi" though.)

Crаp, there are two versions of this song!

The one i like better is called Вот такие дела but i only have 2 minutes of it. The other one is Я не поняла and they are both sung by Виа-гра. They have the same words but diffrent instruments and stuff.

Where did u get

By the way I remember another song called вот такие дела recently, I don't know who by, but it goes something like
blah blah .. a bit of lame, yes
but I thought this line was so typically Russian:
как хочется жить, жить, жить, и за это получать цветы ...
I can't imagine an English girl singing that somehow.

    Here it is - http://bulanova.fanclubs.ru/album/vot_takie_dela.html
And I think that there are the same stupid pop songs in English as in Russian. Can't recall any of them though.

Oh, believe me, the depths of idiocy are well and truly plumbed by our chanteuses too
I only meant to say there is something peculiar to Russian culture in that line.

    That's "певицы" in French.
