What is the meaning of "аты-баты"?

I would say this is the "sound" that imitates soldier's march.

However I have heard it only in songs. This is oldfashion word.

A child when he "plays soldier" can march and say "Раз, два, аты-баты.. "

Sounds like the name of a Mongolian town. :P
