Thread: what is ероллейбус?

Its a word from exercise 20, which is located here: http://www.library.reed.edu/lang/russia ... tters.html

I sound it out in russian, but ероллейбус doesn't sound like anything I have heard of in english. (the group of words in exercise 20 should sound like the english version of the word when you pronounce them in russian). Any ideas?

It's a typo it should be троллейбус - trolleycar (a bus that goes on electricity)

Why "-car" then? I thought it's "trolleybus".

Trolleybuses are not common in the Western countries for some reason. Although they are not without problems but they are much more manoevrable than trams because they don't use tracks but elecitrical lines above. So the top looks like an electric train, the rest as a normal bus.

In some suburbs of Adelaide, Australia there are bus lines where bus go on tracks - go at about 100 km/h within the city. This unique thing is called O'Bahn.
