Правда је спора, али достижна...
I have only been studying a short time, but does this not mean 'you are very good'?
As in oochen meaning very?

maybe Andrewsco, thank you But it seems to me that is not right, and I heard it on the grapevine that this phrase means * you are handsome*
Правда је спора, али достижна...
First, you spelled that phrase incorrectly. Second, you're both right
Ты очень хороший can mean a number of things.
1. You are very good.
2. You are very handsome (though it's not very frequently used)

ReDSanchous спасибо и прости для misspelling ...
Ты очень хороший

You are welcome. You too. Ты тоже.

I think you should translate that "You are very nice", cause when people want to say "You're very handsom" they usually add a suffics "-еньк" to the word "хороший".
So it would be "Ты очень хорошенький" or "Ты очень симпатичный" (the last one sounds better to me).

????? No way "хороший" can mean pretty or handsome by itself. хорошенький, yes.Originally Posted by ReDSanchous
как вариант:
you're great - ты замечательный
you're good/nice - ты хороший (just to express sympathy to another person)

I don't know why you guys think that you can't say 'ты хороший' to mean 'you're handsome'. You can find this phrase in some movies:
-Ты, конечно, хороший, но...
Although I agree with you that it's rarely used.

Ugh, does "handsome" has other meanings beside "pretty" that I do not know about?Originally Posted by ReDSanchous

Handsome means beautiful. So you're right. I might have been mistaken.

Yeah, and that means "You are nice (i.e. good person), but...". Not handsome!Originally Posted by ReDSanchous
P.S. Handsome means good looking, isn't it?
But you can say:"Он (очень) хорош собой."
Хорош собой = good looking
can't you say it without the собой?
Like a pretty woman would be : она хороша?

Well, you can. But that's not obvious what are you talking about. She could be goodlooking, but also she could be good in bed or anything else depending on context.Originally Posted by kalinka_vinnie
When you say "хорош(а) собой" that always means goodlooking.
Right but in spoken language just хороша (without собой) is way more common.Originally Posted by gRomoZeka
Ты думаешь? По-моему, фраза "Он хорош" может значить все что угодно.. И как правило это значит, что он хорош в чем-то. А то и "Хорош, нечего сказать!"Originally Posted by net surfer
Дык gender discrimination. "Хороша" в определённом контексте означает, что она красива. А вот "хорош" - вряд ли...Originally Posted by gRomoZeka
