Also another interesting verb would be the word supplant.
E.g. "domestic production has been supplanted by imports and jobs have been lost"

Вытеснять/замещать. Вытеснять sounds more "energic" and "agressive".
Domestic production has been supplanted by imports and jobs have been lost = Отечественная продукция была вытеснена импортом, и рабочие места были потеряны.
