    Does anyone know if in Russia, there is a mythical being who sprinkles sand in the eyes of children to put them to sleep? If anyone knows how to call the Sandman in Russian, I thank you...

    "Песочный человек" — so is the common translation of the story by Hoffman, 19 c. German writer. In Russian folklore there is never such a being. The more popular literary image is Ole-lukoje (or however it is spelt) by Danish writer Andersen.
