Thread: Please help me with the phonetic pronunciations

Hi. I have written a novel in which I used Russian Cyrillic to indicate that someone was speaking Russian, then translating it into English. However, when I started formatting my book for Kindle/Amazon, it doesn't recognize Russian Cyrillic. I really would appreciate it if I could get someone to translate the Russian Cyrillic text to phonetic Russian I have here into English alphabet characters. I have quite a few sentences, but this is the first one. thank you in advance....

"Отойдём назад след в след по дороге, выведшей нас сюда. В пяти километрах к востоку сделаем остановку, и оттуда я вас выведу к линии фронта."

You can use this site. Copy your Cyrillic text to the big window, then press "в транслит" button (the rightmost one right above the window). The text will be recoded and you will be able to copy the result back.

Actually Kindle 3 supports Cyrillic characters. Kindle previewer for PC support Cyrillic starting from 1.6 (or 1.61) version. Old versions of Kindle and Kindle DX have no native support for Cyrillic while it is expected with new firmware updates. You should convert your source file to unicode charset before sending the file to kindlegen. To convert your source file you can use free notepad++ (select convert to UCS-2 Little Endian).
