I recently purchased an old Russian military hat from an antique store and I need help figuring out what the hat reads

Here's what's on the front of the Russian military hat

BBMY NM. HAXNMOBA

Apparently, ВВМУ им. Нахимова - Nakhimov Naval School.

"ВВМУ" is an acronym: "Высшее военно-морское училище" -- Higher naval school (maybe, better academy in this case).
"им." is abbreviation: "имени" -- a form of the word "имя" (name). It dos not translalte in this case because the next word is a name "Nakhimov".

Apparently, ВВМУ им. Нахимова - Nakhimov Naval School.

I think no. Nakhimov Naval School (St. Petersburg) is "a form of military education for teenagers". But "ВВМУ" means Higher naval school. So, I think it's ЧВВМУ им. П. С. Нахимова (Sevastopol, Ukraine) (http://shvvmunahimova.narod.ru).

ИM. (not NM) = name
НАХИМОВА (not HAXNMOBA) = of Nakhimov
So the full translation is "Nakhimov Higher Naval School".

It’s the funny coincidence. But in Russian the letter “И” sounds like “i” in the English word “nick” or like “e” in the English word “me”. It’s not English “N”.
