    СПИД

Bonjour! ive been listening to Zemfira again and ive got some questions.
firstly in the song Спид is she actually refering to aids? it seems a little strang to sing "you've got aids". if this song is indeed aboud aids does that mean that there is a problem with aids in Russia

2nd - in 'главное' right at the start--
    газовых горелок больше нет -
i'm sure she dosent mean bunsun burners really, so is this some kind of a poetic play on lights?

    cheers!

Yes. I read once that Zemfira was one of the first celebrities to speak out about AIDS in Russia.

For the second question, I think she is saying "There are no longer any gas burners." I have no idea what that means. Her lyrics are too hard for me to figure out most of the time.

thats a good enough translation but then shes talking about some lonley hearts add, no doubt shes after love and it's a shame because she allways fancied having a crack at painting - i think it's about time running out and making the most of life/love but the bunson burner thing slightly stranger than i expected >

When it comes to song lyrics I try not to think about them too long. Often they turn out to just be nonsense that fits the rhythm and measure yet sound insightful and profound. *cough*Bob Dylan*cough*

Yea, в самом деле. The second song doesn't have any meaning. It is obviously not for Russians… Maybe for martians?

About 40-50 years ago they used to build homes in Russia with газовые горелки or газовые колонки in bathrooms. These горелки used to make water hot.
So газовых горелок больше нет means ‘everything is changing’ because they don’t build such homes yet.
    Zemfira sings:
    Газовых горелок больше нет,
    нули свое забирают…
There is a saying годы свое забирают and its meaning is ‘years take away all we’ve got’. Zemfira says нули instead of годы. Apparently she means zeros in ‘2000’. So her message is ‘XX century is over and all things are different now’.
That’s so simply lads. Just use your imagination.

Of course she means левая ягодица but мышца sounds better.

so i was right in a sense, time moving on, things changing. it does seem that in most of Zemfira's songs (in among the general chaos of those lyrics) she is singing about scoring guys, or not as the case seems to be :P

Это странно, как работает твое воображение Я-то всегда думала, что тут не может быть двух мнений: раньше были газовые горелки, теперь электричество со счетчиками, на которых нули
