What exactly are we looking for?

If someone asks, "Что бы Вы хотели?" [what would you like?] one says, "Колу" [A cola.]. The other person doesn't understand so they would say, "Колу?" [A cola?] Is that right?

Are you ever going to tell us why you need these phrases? Or at least thank the people who so unselfishly take the time to translate your codswollop?

Evidently he is writing some kind of science-fiction story involving intergalactic travel, ancient pharaoh's curses, and trying on dresses.

I'm not understanding, what upsets you. If you do not wish to help me, that is your own choice. I always thank everyone who helps me with my translations. If you would read what I have written on my requests, you would have seen a thank you. Sometimes my thanks have been in many different languages. I believe you must be over looking my gratitude. And another thing, Pravit, would you mind your own business for once. All I'm trying to do is learn. For the words that are not known to me, I must ask for help. It's not your business, why I'm asking these questions. Please, get over whatever is holding both of you back mentally. Oh, and Pravit, what does this 'applauses' mean? Is it anything like APPLAUDS? For one can't applause Jasper. One may applaud him, but not applause him. *An applause is acclamation through clapping, just to let you know.*

But anyway, to the people that have answered me, without a sarcastic remark, I thank them.

PS: This was not meant to offend anyone, especially those who have helped me so much with my learning. I can't thank them enough for being so kind to a novice in a foreign language. Oh, and Knave, what does this "I'm not understanding, what upsets you" mean? Is it anything like "I'm not understanding what upsets you"? For one can't put a comma there...

Knave, what is the reason for such a backlash? Do you not like me? I believe it was Jasper who said you had not thanked the people who translated your "codswollop." All I did was add in a humorous comment. And I believe you have forgotten to thank me, as I've helped you many times without adding in sarcastic comments. Perhaps you should edit your post and change "Pravit" to "Jasper."

Also, I know I have bad English, as I have stated many times on this forum. Joysof is the one with the good English. What does that have to do with anything? And why do you think I'm upset at you? Personally, I think your story must be very interesting. Would you mind letting me read it?

Pravit, I'm sorry if I had offended you. But from your responses, I seem to have gotten a negative vibe from your comment. You agreed with Jasper, that I wrote 'codswobble'. I also know that you have helped me with other things, but I still felt you showed antipathy toward me. I said in the 'P.S.' that it was not supposed to be offensive, for my rebuttal was about expressing what I felt. Anyway, maybe you need to lighten your disposition a bit.

No offense taken. Just wanted to clear things up a bit. And just because I applauded Jasper for a rather humorous post does not mean I agree with him. I cannot criticize your work until I have read it.

And I've been known to write a bit of "codswobble" myself, too, concerning wars in grocery stores, heroic philologists with princesses named Akbar, and silent children in Dagestan, so I don't think I stand in a position to throw such a remark out

Pravit, I'm sorry if I had offended you. I have always seemed to get a negative vibe from your remarks. I have never felt that you had a kind disposition toward me. I don't think that was very kind, when you agreed I wrote 'codswollop'. Anyway, I do like that you try to help me, but sometimes you will say that you're not sure of things that you've translated for me and other times you just say it's wrong with no explanation. I thank you for taking the time out and trying, but I apologize if I offended you. I tried to make it clear that I was not trying to offend either of you, for I was only expressing how I felt. I don't believe that I should keep my thoughts inside. In conclusion, I think if you want people to believe that you're on their side, don't agree with their opposition. I'm not saying that one must. But in order to get another's trust, one must make an effort of kindness to the other. With that said, I hope you've understood my disposition.

Knave, I already said that no offense was taken. And when did I agree that you wrote codswo/llop/bble? If you mean my joke where I said I wrote it too, note that it is a lighthearted joke intended to make you feel better. I hate explaining jokes, but I meant to say that I'm in no position to say you wrote "codswobble", because I write silly things myself. Therefore I couldn't have said that(and I didn't).

The reason I sometimes tell you things are wrong without explaining it is because those particular errors are so bad I feel you can give a better shot at them. Correcting your own errors is a good way of learning. And, of course, I am not sure of anything I say. It's very easy to turn something around and hold it against somebody and have something spiral into a long debate. That's why I usually avoid raging forum debates(unless they concern me in particular) and when I have to write something that could be argued, I usually put a disclaimer.

Sorry, but my two remarks were not for emphasis. I just didn't think the first went through, so I made another statement. It's okay, don't worry about it. I'm just not having a good day, I guess. I think I understand what you mean now.

I was just trying to post an well-meant apology for my apparently unjustified attack when I saw your 'codswobble' and burst out laughing. Awfully sorry.
