If I want to say: "The ingredients of professional success are: devotion, determination, hard-work, passion, innovation and ability to adapt in new conditions"
All the words interest me but most of all the word: ingredient. Is it correct to use the word ингредиент or is it just for cooking receipes?
Also instead of ingredients I was thinking of the word component (i.e. The components of professional success are ...). The word I found again derives from English: компонент

Составляющие профессионального успеха. Или важные составляющие профессионального успеха. Второе лучше звучит.

Составляющая (feminine) - это существительное. But it is a noun-from-the-adjective. Like ванная (комната) it originally was составляющая (часть).

Компоненты = ok, but составляющие even a bit more ok
Indeed, ингридиенты are for cooks and scientists.
And often we could see Ингридиенты instead Состав: on the food's packaging

Indeed comprise is one of the most annoying verbs in English because despite the fact that you don't use preposition after it ... you are tempted to do it when you speak.

"Составляющая" can be a noun or participle. Compare it with the English words "meaning" or "washing", for example. They can be a noun, adjective or participle, it depends on context.

Ингредиент usually refers to a part of food, a dish or chemical reaction/experiment. As a rule, it's something material.
Для приготовления этого блюда нам потребуются следующие ингредиенты: красная рыба, сливки, укроп и перец.
Каковы ингредиенты успеха хорошего повара? (This question sounds like a pun.)

Oh, of course, it's not derived from English, it's a Latin word (btw, "ingredient" is Latin too) and it means exactly the same like Russian "составляющая" (as a noun).

Also in some cases you can use элемент. The main meaning is "chemical element", but it's used in sport too, for example, "гимнастический элемент" (= "gymnastic element"), and some use it sometimes as an abstract "component".
"The Fifth Element" (movie) = "Пятый элемент".

I am unacceptable regarding Latin.
I thougt also of элемент but it thought that it is used very rarely.

If somebody was talking about a career of a cook, ингредиенты успеха would be taken for a metaphor. I'm not sure whether for a cool or for a cheap one.
