    Where is the latch?

Can anyone shed some light on this sentence for me?

Нож, которым ничего не стоит вспороть брюхо этому щитку и нащупать в нем защелку. Ну где же она?!

    I have translated it as:
A knife, which would have no problem ripping open the front of this panel and seeking out the latch. Now where on earth is it?!

Is the where is it? bit talking about the latch?

    Thanks!

Yes, it's about the latch. You easily recognise it by the gender (она). There is only one feminine noun in the sentence, so it leaves no doubt.

Thank you - is my translation of the sentence ok?

Also - another one with a gender issue below:

я свернул во дворик «сталинки», увенчанной старыми часами,

How would you translate this sentence? Especially the увенчанной which I believe is feminine and so does not describe the дворик

    Thanks!

    It describes сталинку.
Сталинка - a building of a certain kind, associated with the Stalin era.
    увенчанный - crowned (with something)
