    Help me name my horse

I have purchased an Russian Orlov Horse and would like to register him by a Russian name. Thing is, it must start with a K, but I would like it to pertain to him somehow, (i.e. relating to his size being very big, or, his color which is grey but he will turn all white as he gets older, or his gentle personality) I like Zeema (I think means winter) but as you see it does not start with K. Do you have any sugestions?

    Thanks
    t

    Комета (comet)
    Кабель (cabel)
    Кавалер (admirer)
    Кадет (cadet)
    Казак (cossack)
    Карат (karat)
    Кардинал (cardinal)
    Каскад (cascade)
    Коралл (coral)
    Корвет (corvette)
    Крейсер (cruiser)
    Кремень (flint)

I tried to select words that sound interesting enough and have good sense. In Russia sometimes people can call their animals very funny names such as Кризис (crisis), Каблук (heel), Кальмар (squid). If you like that funny way maybe we can choose other words. Words from this list are not funny neither in sense nor in sounding. If you have additional questions feel free to ask. Naming horse is not an easy thing By the way, have I properly understood that the horse is male?

Well since he is a horse, he could hypothetically ask his rider the question.......куда?

How about that as a suitable name.....i've seen worse?

    thanks thanks thanks

Wow what a great list of words.
The ones I like best are:
Kometa (comet) I like the image I get from this word.
Kadet (cadet) My husband used to be one.
Kpencep (cruiser) I will be doing alot of cruising on him.
Kackad (cascade) His mane will be long and flowing.
Kopbet (corvette) My husband used to have one.
(did I get the spellings correct?)
Another request........ because I don't speak russian, could you tell me how to pronounce these words. I think I have an Idea, but not sure.

As to why it must start with a K, his damm's name is Konca and all his siblings begin with a K. This is a tradition with his breeder and I would like to follow that tradition, but I want to use a Russian name to emphasize his Exotic background.

He is an exceptional equine, the likes I have never worked with before.
    Thumbs up to Count Orlov!!

    Again, thank you,
    t f

    Very cute!

I'll add Kuda to the list.

Question..... in the Russian lang. do you put the adjective before or after the noun? i.e. would Kometa Zeema work, or would it have to be Zeema Kometa?

Generally, in Russian you can put any words in any place within a sentence (usually).
But when you put out a separate name for someone or something, and if you put an adjective after a noun, it carries a big stress.
E.g, Great Ocean means what it means, but Ocean Great - in English you probably tried to insert "the"- that the Ocean is r-e-a-ll-y Great. It's just to put it for you simple.

Зима is a noun, комета ia a noun also, and if you want to use adjective it will be "зимняя комета" (зимняя is an adjective).

Everyone has been very helpful, thanks.

I'm leaning towards Komet Zeena, ( a comet in winter ).

This has been educational and a blast with you all.

    Again, thanks,

Did the words comet and winter remind you of meteor and Winters?

I love name Зима - it is simple but at the same time reflects Russian origin.
