Thread: Handwriting in Russian cursive

Hi!

Can you please help me to identify the Russian cursive cyrillic letters of this note, and, in particular, of the last word of the second line?




My hypothesis is:


Turgeneff – въ Субботу придеть смо-
-треть двъ картины которыя въликому
отъ Ивана Ивановича

это точно не "въликому" ! ни по смыслу, ни по написанию.
(Кстати, этот алфавит и способ построения фраз не используют уже с 1917 года)

Good guess. Just keep in mind that it is written in old orthography. There is no letter Ѣ in contemporary Russian alphabet.

The word ????? indeed can be read as вѢликому but I see no sense in this phrase without context.

Could this mysterious word be a simple future tense verb of motion in first singular person related to "ot Ivana Ivanovicha"?

There is no such verb. It must be "вѢликому", "to the great one".
