Can people please give better explanations.
-------------------------
занятие = lesson / class.
Nouns that end -ие are neuter.
The nominative plural of neuter nouns that end -ие is -ия.
занятие - lesson
занятия - lessons
The accusative of neuter nouns is identical in form to the nominative, so
занятия is also the accusative plural form of the noun.
The У / Ю ending is for FEMININE nouns in the accusative.
