Find the odd man out.

The following is from a textbook for Russian language proficiency examination in Turkey.

You're required to find the sentence which is not suitable for the paragraph.

(1) Основная деталь представляет собой прямоугольник с закругленной верхней частю. (2) Ее составляют из кусочков ткани, выложенных по определенному рисунку. (3) Можно сочитать ткани однотонные и с рисунком, ткани с матовой поверхностью и блестящие, гладкие и рельефные (4) Стачанную основную деталь проклеивают клеевой прокладкой или соединяют для прочности с бортовкой. (5) Металлический крючок делают проволоки или используют готовый из вешалки для одежды.

According to the textbook, the answer is (5). I don't get it. Can someone translate this paragraph and tell me why (5) is the answer?

That's odd. At least if this textile part has that metal hook that is described in the 5th sentence :) If it hasn't, so what's the metal hook for in the paragraph? ;)

I don't have time to translate at the moment. Briefly, the first four sentences are related to textile manufacturing, and the fifth is about making a metal garment hanger. I'd say the difference is subtle considering numerous special terms, and it's for very advanced students.

(1) Основная деталь представляет собой прямоугольник с закругленной верхней частю. (2) Ее составляют из кусочков ткани, выложенных по определенному рисунку. (3) Можно сочитать ткани однотонные и с рисунком, ткани с матовой поверхностью и блестящие, гладкие и рельефные (4) Стачанную основную деталь проклеивают клеевой прокладкой или соединяют для прочности с бортовкой. (5) Металлический крючок делают проволоки или используют готовый из вешалки для одежды.

(1) The main piece looks like a rectangle with a rounded off top. (2) It is being put together from pieces of fabric, laid out with the help of a particular drawing (sorry bad translation there). (3) You can combine one-colour fabrics and fabrics with pictures on them, with smooth or rough surface. (4) (Стачанную) main part is put together using glue, or is connected with (бортовкой), for durability. (5) The metallic hook is made from wire or or used a ready rack for clothes.

I'd say #5

well, if he's in some technical textile school, it makes sence.

Well, we use to have pretty good lessons on sewing in the school, so I know somehow what "стачивать" means, but what on earth "бортовка" ? :D

Это что-то вроде очень тонкого и редкого, но при этом очень жесткого холста. Don't ask me why I know it! :)

Наверное, потому что ею (тканью) прокладывают борта пиджаков и пальто, чтобы они не теряли форму.
