    Farrier

Does anyone know how Russians refer to people who put the shoes on horses.

Farrier is the word sometimes used in English but most people just say "horseshoer'. "Blacksmith" is not necessary a horseshoer, although some blacksmiths are also horseshoers.

So how would I say, "I am a horseshoer. That's right! I put the shoes on horses."

People who do this job at hippodromes/horse racing clubs etc are called "коваль". But in Ukranian and many Russian dialects, this word simply means a blacksmith. So about 99% of Russians will misunderstand you if you say you are a "коваль." In the past, this job was always done by blacksmiths. The Russian term for shoeing a horse ("подковать") even has the same root as "ковать" (to forge, to smith)

    Кузнец. Его мастерская - кузница.

Для "обувщика лошадей" нет специального слова (очевидно, у нас не существовало отдельной профессии). Не знаю, что за слово "коваль" - оно точно не русское, очень похоже, что слово польского происхождения.
