I would translate loose as "свободный".
Эти штаны слишком свободные.
Tight- тесный or маленький.
Loose - свободный or большой.
I'd say, there is a slight difference. You say тесный (or, vise versa, свободный) if a piece of clothes is tight or loose, but still wearable. You say маленький or большой when it's too tight or too loose to wear.
Thanks.
I am not Russian, I am Ukrainian(Ukrainian-Moldovan). I am relearning Russian because I was adopted when I was four years old from South Ukraine. My family there speaks it and I spoke it when I lived there. (Я из Одесской области)
I see. Nice that you work on it. :)
Usually the phrasing of these types uses the short-form adjective, without the слишком. You could say Эта рубашка мала, meaning "too small".
штаны велики pants are too big.
