Thread: Can someone tell me what "ё моё"

Iv'e heard the phrase "ё моё" before, but I'm not completely sure what it means. Searching for it on Google only results in finding that its an idiom with no direct/literal translation.

Is there an actual meaning for it, or is it just a phrase expressing surprise with no meaning?

Yes, it expresses a (usually unpleasant) surprise.

Originally, it was a euphemism of «ёб твою мать» (literally: “(I have) fucked your mother”) which can also express an unpleasant surprise but has even wider semantic field.

The possible meanings are 'f..cking hell' or 'bloody hell', 'damn', 'shite', etc. So it's rude.

But it is not мат.

"ё моё!" = "oh, shit!"
