Калена стрела = стрела с наконечником из закалённой стали.
What about невесту and чистом? And I take it these endings "should" be ую? Should вострая be острая?Quote:

В чистом поле - чистое (clear) поле - plain field (cleared of any tree)
The endings in both words are the result of using them in different cases.
тиха-скромна - are the short forms of тихая-скромная - that why the endings are shortened too. The short forms are used as a fleur of old vocabulary where the short forms were as used as the usual ones. Besides the length of the line demands the short words for keeping in frames of its rhythm.
вострая - is an emphasys, the influence of some other Slavic(Belorussian?) or just an old word, or it is just a slang. It's a song and singing Bоoooстрая (this part is usually stretched out) suits better for fluidity of the song.
