Thread: Translation help please

Hello all!

I have been writing to a wonderfull Russian woman now for about 5 months and would love to send her some thing in Russian. But I know very very did I mention very little Russian.

If someone could please translate this for me and give me an idea on how to get it to her with out the letters being messed up? Because everytime I send her something that is in Russian it is messed up when she recieves it.. Thanks for all your help. Here is the Poem that I I wrote for her..

God Gave (this is the Title)

God gives us Life,
Life gives us Time,
Time gives us Love,
Love gives Time - Meaning.

God gave me Life,
Time gave me your Love,
Your Love gave my Life and Time – Meaning.

Thanks very much Dorobat.. I will try and hope that it makes sense to her.. If anyone else has some ideas please let me know.. Also does anyone have any ideas on how to make it so that she will be able to ready it??

Because when I send her something she says that it just looks like a bunch of symbols..

Please help if you can.

Maybe you can convert it into a bitmap or jpeg file like this.

that's what "дал" usually means, when it is used right after a person in a sentence, and with no explanation. So, if I were to say "Моя жена дала мне вчера", that would mean her and I had sex yesterday

In here: Жезнь дает нам время
it's a spelling mistake i assume. Should be "Жизнь"

In here: Любовь дает време значение.
it should be "времени"

In here: Время дало мне твоя любовь
should be твою

In here: Твоя любовь дала моей жизни и время значение.
should be времени

Как я и сказал раньше, дала имеет очень определённое значение в россии

и вовсе не обязательно быть озабоченным шоб это так понимать.. просто разговорное значение у слова

I *did* say it only means it if it appears with no explanation

две разные вещи

So, in your opinion "бюст Пушкина" indicates that the poet had a sex-change operation, just because your wife has a bust?

Nope. But thats only because I remember бюст Ленина all too well, and carrying it around back and forth too much, in school and other places To the center of the room. To the back of the room. To this room. To that room.

OK... so now I am completly confused..

Well I did send it to her, she did recieve it and now she wants a baby from me.. just kidding..

She did say that she did enjoy it and that she was going to get it printed so she can put on the wall in her house..

Again.. I do want to thank everyone for their help.. I am starting to see that the Russian language is indeed difficult to learn. But I will start to learn at any rate.

Hey, if you don't mind me asking: how did you learn to meet a Russian woman without speaking Russian? Does she speak English?

no problem.. She does speak english.. But I wanted to do this for her as a gift kinda.. We met through a dateing service.. Ya I know tacky but it's true..

Anyways.. loke I said this was a gift to her..
