всегда ведет себя как красавицей?
Both phrases sound very bad in Russian. You actually have to think a moment for their meaning to sink in.Quote:

So maybe this will work: "Она считает себя красавицей и ведет себя соответственно", "Она ведет себя, как королева", etc., i.e. more descriptive phrases.
Let's wait what others will say. Maybe they'll think of something better.
да,значит она на самом деле может быть красивая, но она ведёт себя особо так,что заметили свою красоту. и обычно людям,особенно женшинам не нравится такая))
А может: «она выдаёт себя за красавицу?»
Но я не носитель языка. Возжможно, ошибаюсь.
Мэйби, она думает, что красивая.
paramita, give us the context please
paramita, put gaps after punctuation marks please
Вечно она строит из себя красавицу/королеву. (conveys irritation)
To act pretty - притворяться довольным?
Есть выражение "He was setting pretty". Я думаю, что оно означает, что он был всем доволен, несмотря на обстоятельства. Перевод Гугля: неплохо устроился http://translate.google.com/translate_d ... ir=en%7Cru

Without context, I have no idea what is meant by "she acts pretty". I don't think it sounds any better in English than it does in Russian. I have to think about what it means, and even then I'm not sure.
The only idea it conveys to me is that she somehow behaves as though she is attractive when she isn't. If I knew someone like that, I wouldn't say, "She acts pretty", I'd say, "She thinks she's pretty."
Don't worry your pretty little heads about making it sound good in Russian, 'cause it's awkward even in English.
Translators should consider even awkward language. That's the point... :)
I suppose you're right. So, did we ever figure out the right translation?Quote:

Quite so, I might say.Quote:
