I erected a monument to myself which was not made by human hands.

There's got to be a simpler way to put it, but that's the literal translation.

It makes a lot of sense. Have you read the rest of the poem? It basically means that he has created something immaterial (not of this dense earthly matter -- hence, "not made by hands") by which he will be remembered in future generations.

Or, to put it more simply, his poems are his monument.

I have erected a monument to myself, made not by hands
And people's path to it won't ever run wild
It soared its unsubmissive head above the Alexander's pillar.

No, I won't die entirely, my soul within a sacred lire will outlive my ashes and thus it'll escape the decay.
And I'll be glorious as long as there lives at least one poet under the Moon.

The talks of me will spread across whole great Russia
And any tongue living therein will call me (remember my name), be it a proud grandson of the Slavs, a Finn or a Tungus presently a savage, and a Kalmyk the friend of steppes.

And for long I will be pleasant to the people because I've been waking good feelings by my lire, because I have panegyrized freedom in our cruel age and because I had called for mercy to the fallen.

To God's will, oh Muse, be obedient.
Without fear of resentment and demanding no crowns.
Indifferently take both slander and praise,
And don't argue with a fool.
