    Концы в воду

I need to translate in English the Russian proverb "Концы в воду", meaning - to conceal all evidence against you: as in "мы конфеты сами съедим, коробку спрячем, а открытку выбросим - и концы в воду, мама даже не узнает, что получала посылку". Any ideas, tovarischi?

Off the top of my head - "leaving no loose ends". Not exactly the same thing but it's a start.
I've got a TV, and I'm not afraid to use it

Hmm... where have I seen this phrase before???

In this context adoc's phrase could work, so could "we won't leave a trace"

    to cover one's tracks

Multitran (my dictionary) also suggests the following:

концы в воду = and nobody the wiser

yeah, I read that "suggestion", but it doesn't fit the context by a mile!

Multitran sucks :P - at least at this case.

So, Vinnie, I'll put "leave no loose ends" - it's kinda close, OK?

Funny thing. I was watching NTV (НТВ) about half an hour ago and heard this very expression - концы в воду.

That was about 1000000th coincidence of such kind in my life which shows that everything is connected in this world
