Thread: клюёт

I find this word in a phrase about fishing, and its meaning is clear : "bite", but I can't find nor in Моpфологический анализ the verb where it comes from. The phrase is:
В такую пору (when it rains slightly) очень хорошо ловится рыба, как говорят рываки, именно в дождичек она и клюёт (т.е. попадается на удочку). Can you help me? Thanks.

"Клевать" means "to bite" when applied to fishes (only when fishing) and "to peck" for birds. Compare to "клюв" = beak.
