Does держать удар mean "to get hit"?

No, it means to endure. It's a slangish saying.
Если ты "не держишь удар", this means that you get offended too easily, cant withstand an insult, too thinskinned etc.

I think in boxing it literally means to withstand a punch or something

It also means you don't give up easily and keep fighting when life challenges you.

Speaking of slapping and such, isn't there a verb which means literally "To smack somebody in the face"? I vaguely remember translating a word like this in I think "Выстрел", but I can't be for sure. Thanks,

How about the Russian equivalent of the English verb 'to punch'? ударить кого-нибудь в лицо/по лицу.
For example,
-Чак Норисс ударил меня в лицо, я упал и больше уже никогда не мог подняться.

I've just come up with another verb meaning 'smack sb in the face'. It's a slang one.
заехать кому-нибудь куда-нибудь
-Ты прикинь, он мне по роже заехал!
But this sentence is rather rude while the word заехать isn't rude at all. It's just very informal.

Here is my guess
to punch = to hit with a closed fist = ударить кулаком
to slap = to hit with an open hand = ударить рукой
to kick = to hit with a foot = ударить ногой
to hit = ударить
