    May Day is over.....

How did you spend this day? Did you celebrate? March in any demonstrations? Work, school? How was your day, and was it important?? I was a bit surprised not to see any mention of May day on this Forum.... I worked most of the day, left work early to run errands (licensing a "new" '93 car), bought and installed plates on it, and a new steering wheel cover; and talked with the renter from upstairs..... a real exciting day (sarcasm)

I spent it like a normal day. It was only important here if you're Hispanic apparently. They marched and boycotted all day...

Yeah I turned on the TV, and there were a bunch of mexican flags and people speaking spanish. I thought I had gotten drunk again and ended up in Nogales.

I was in London, but not for those demonstrations. I just saw many soviet flag-waving people and a hell of a lot of police and riot horses.

Then I saw a bunch of students aggitating pigeons by waving the flags at them.
Please correct any Russian language mistakes I make.

    "первое мая"
There's also the term "майские праздники" that incudes both May Day and the Victory Day.

I probably had the most boring May Day I've ever had in my life. I couldn't think of anything better other than to spend the whole day studying. Arh! I've just recalled! I watched ice hokcey on TV yesterday - Sweden vs. Russia. Of course, Russia won. It couldn't have been otherwise! So, this year's May Day doesn't resemble any other holidays I've ever had in my life. The reason for this is probably that I got drunk the day before May Day - on April 30 and didn't want to celebrate the holiday at all.

Here we call May Day "The Day of Work" - keeping that in mind, I probably spent the most unorthodox May day ever I slept most of it away My life is *pretty hectic* (=euphemism! ) at the moment, so what do you do on a day off?! SLEEP!!!

Went to see a show in the evening with friends though - that was really hard work!

I spent it on the road! Cruising down the coast of California. Now that is a celebration!

You could have stopped to have a beer! Why didn't you do so?
