That's the title of the best novel I've ever read about WW2. I'd read a Persian translation long ago in my early teens, but now it's been a while that I am reading the original Russian text. And I am loving it!
The author, Konstantin Simonov, is perhaps best known to contemporary Russians for the poem "Жди меня". I suppose he was an enthusiastic communist, because his narrative gets very sentimental here and there. However, it's almost impossible to write about war without prejudice. Communist or not, he was definitely a fine artist, and you can sense his delicate feelings towards his fatherland and his sincere love for human values everywhere in his works.
Has anyone among you guys read that book?
