It's not about whether people are "normal" or not - the answer is always YES, it's about whether those in control over people are normal or not - and here, unfortunately, we have a wide range of options with some really nasty ones. The current Iranian authorities are definitely way more intrusive than what they'd had before 1979, and what they've been doing for over 35 years is certainly not right. Ordinary Iranians hardly buy the propaganda they're given, of course, but saying they live happy lives in their country under their current system smells hypocritical.

Нет, я не вижу здесь лицемерия: это нормально, что люди могут жить счастливо вне зависимости от политической системы. К тому же, как нам известно из прежней жизни, отсутствие реальной демократии сильнее сближает, сплачивает людей.
