    sad news

After all the excitement of my trip on the 8th-12th to Russia, I will not be going until further notice because my American passport expired, so I have to wait to receive a new one. Thankfully it will be expedited which means that I will get it sooner, so I am hoping that I will get to go after Christmas sometime. I just hope it is in the near future. I wish I had discovered my expired passport earlier...

I saw the new Harry Potter yesterday. Snape is my favorite.

If you pay a lot of money you can get a passport in just a couple days. I think you can even get it in one day in San Francisco.

How much is 'a lot of money'...

Hmm, I only had to look at the title of this thread to know what had happened.
Please correct any Russian language mistakes I make.

It reminds me of Russia. Here you can also pay a lot of money to get a passport (and actually everything else) in just a couple of days. People who don't have the money have to wait for a long time while others can get everything in just a few days.

SapphireEyes, that's bad you found out that your American passport's expired so late. But don't worry, you'll go to Russia anyway. Sooner or later

Pretty silly mistake if you ask me. Your passport has to be valid for at least 6 months after exit from Russia.

I don't remember what I paid was it $100 or $200? I just remember being mad because I had to waste my money just to expedite my passport.

Я слышал, американский паспорт можно сделать за 1-2 дня. Надо только заплатить "за срочность", но, вроде, не так уж и много.

Well, it doesn't take too long to get an American passport. Not more than 1 month. And if you're planning a trip and you can assume you'll need you passport... You know what I mean...

For an extra $60 I had my passport renewal "expediated" and it arrived in less than 2 weeks. The trick is to send it overnight express and include overnight express prepaid envelope for the return.

That will be perfect timing because that is when all the holiday festivities begin! I am returning in one week after 2 months of sun and shopping in Los Angeles. Russia is the best place to be for New Years!!!
