Hey,

I'm going on a Russian immersion course for two weeks in October. It takes place with the British Council and is in Yaroslavl. Does anyone have any photos or information on the city. What's it like? Are there many shops restaurants etc. I'm 17 by the way so anything that might apply to that age group. Thank you!

Hi, nathanuk! Actually, I'm from Yaroslavl. It's quite a nice city. There're many shops and restaurants here. There are night clubs too. But October is not a good time to come because of the weather ... Pictures... Lampada's pictures are beautiful but they show churches but not Yaroslavl. I can send you photos if you like.
Information:
1. Population - more than 600 000
2. 300 km from Moscow
3. Two rivers: Volga - one of the biggest rivers in Russia
Kotorosl - small river
4. I dunno what to say about the city. Ask questions

Our school has an immersion program that partners "Moscow International Gymnasia", a school in Moscow. It is a private school that partners some UN program, so all the students that attend are rich. Unfortunately, they get our hick-ass-selves. But we get to go to Moscow (Слово Бога 200.

And you get to go to Yaroslavl. I thought I'd be an ass and point that out.

I'd choose to live in Yaroslavl. He can easily visit Moscow.

That was really anal, pissing on the guy's parade like that. Besides, I happen to think that Moscow isn't all it's cut up to be. Yaroslavl is just fine -- and I'm willing to bet that in terms of the Russian environment there, it'll be a bit more authentic, rather than an overly expensive metropolis...(I'm still sore about the extra 2 or 3 roubles that my bread cost me there! That's like a whopping ten cents! :P ).

Exactly, some people don't like big cities, especially big foreign cities. And for learning a foreign language a smaller place is probably better.

And also Yaroslavl' will be a hell of a lot cheaper than Moscow.

I hope you get robbed in Moscow, subpar.

No. El Sugundo just means "the second" in Spanish.
